Silver Lake

On Saturday we went up Big Cottonwood Canyon and stopped at Silver lake. This is a really beautiful place, and Silver lake is very family friendly. It has a boardwalk all the way around the lake so its great for strollers and kids. It also has picnic areas. There are two trails that branch off the boardwalk, we took the 1.25 mile hike up to Twin Lakes reservoir.

This is Silver Lake, the leaves were so beautiful.

Here's us on the trail
View of Silver Lake from the trail
Twin Lakes Reservoir.
The hike was much more amazing then the destination.

Pretty pictures of the leaves.

The Actual Day and the Party Day

So Kyler's actual birthday was a big day for Brian. He had a test in his hardest class AND he was defending his doctoral presentation that day, so needless to say, I figured we'd do nothing. But Brian surprised us by skipping some classes, and we went out to play. We went to Liberty Park, and had a wonderful picnic, then we went over to this little river/splash park that Kyler loves.

Kyler got this funny crawl because the cement was hurting his knees

Brian gave his presentation with flying colors and it was excepted (wahoo!), so then we took Kyler and went out to dinner with some of Brian's school friends who also defended that day. All in all it was a great day.

We celebrated his birthday on Saturday at my Cabin. We opened presents throughout the day so he'd get some good one on one time with each gift giver. He got:

A WAY cute suit from my Mom and the girls

The cutest toy train ever from Jeff and Leslie

And a fun new book from G & G Smith, Aunt Kiki, and Aunt Juju with LOTS of cloths (Thank you!!)

The rain held off just long enough for us to enjoy the outdoors, and eat dinner.

Then the best part...the CAKE! We made a sand castle cake because Kyler loves to eat sand. Our little Sand Monster.

What a great day! Thanks to everyone who came! And to top it off, Kyler took his first steps that day, here's proof.

Happy Birthday Kyler!

I can't believe my little boy is one today! It has been the longest and fastest year of my life. I can't help but be overwhelmed with gratitude for the amazing blessing Brian and I received. I remember the day we came home from the hospital, I was so overwhelmed, I kept thinking, how can they send me home with this baby, I barely know how to feed the poor thing! I feel a lot the same way when I think of Kyler's sweet spirit and amazing potential. How could Heavenly Father trust me with such an amazing child of God. I can't think of a more wonderful challenge then to try and be worthy of that blessing.

We have had a wonderful year. Kyler is a little adventurer; here are some of the fun things He's done this year

*I've had 10 hair cuts
*First road trip to Cedar City at 3 weeks
*Snow shoeing when I was 4 months
*Went to Georgia to see Uncle Phillip and family at 6 months
*Went to Goblin Valley, where I hiked my first slot canyon
*Camped in the rain at "The Property" over Memorial Day weekend
*Went swimming several times
*Went to Cedar City again!
*Played on the beach in San Diego
*Played in the river at the Cabin
*Held my first star fish on the Oregon beach
*ATE LOTS OF SAND!

Kyler is a little trooper, he's such a good little boy, and I can't wait to spend the rest of eternity with him :) I love you Kyler

Crazy Puzzle Weekend

My Mom and Chuck (her husband) went on vacation for the week. So I spent the weekend playing with my favorite sisters! For some reason I had a craving to do a puzzle, so Brian went and bought one, well then we couldn't stop doing puzzles! We did 5 puzzles over about 2 days! It was nice to just turn the TV off, and be together doing something fun. Here are the puzzles we did.
This was the first puzzle we did, and probably the hardest, you can't tell from this picture but the image is a hologram, so it's 3D, it was hard because all the peices seemed to be the same, and some you had to turn back and forth so you could see farthur into the image to find out where it went, anyway, it was way cool, we framed this one, so now it's hanging on our wall!
Title: The Summons, Peices: 500
Title: Wolfe Cub, Pieces: 300
Title: Poison Dart, Peices 300
These next two are fun because the pictures are done by a local artist named Eric Dowdle. I really like his art work, you can go to Thanksgiving point's Art Emporium which is were his "office" is I guess, but anyway, they have all his paintings, originals and prints, plus all his paintings in puzzle form too. He also has a website http://www.dowdlefolkart.com/
Title: All Hollows Eve, Pieces: 500

Title: Scout Camp, Pieces: 1000

Side Note:

The other day, I was making dinner, and something must have splashed on the element to the stove because when I turned the stove on, before I new it my kitchen was full of smoke, which of course set off the smoke alarm. So I opened all the windows, grabbed a dish towel and started waving it in front of the smoke alarm to clear the smoke. When I was done, Kyler crawled over to the drawer we keep rags in, grabbed two rags, crawled back under the smoke detector and started waving the rags around, it was pretty cute. Here it is.

Some things cute, some things new

Here are some fun things going on at our house lately

Kyler has learned to stand on his head...silly boy
We went and fed the ducks at liberty park, theyd eat right out of his hand!

When did my little boy get so big! He had both feet sticking out of the bars, but he'd moved by the time I got back with the camera. My sweet sleeper
Kyler is walking all around the furniture, but not quite on his own yet, we borrowed this toy from my neighbor to see if he'd walk with it, sure enough, he did great! He blows really sweet kisses, but the camera is to interesting for me to get it on film.
