6 Months Along, and Block Fun

6 months gone, 3 more to go! Our little boy is growing just great, and I'm feeling great.
We got Kyler some blocks for his birthday, his favorite thing to do is knock down the towers other people make, but he's slowly learning how to make his own stacks. I loved these pics of he and Brian playing, Brian's always so good about coming up with new fun ways to play with toys. The yellow block has a hole in the middle you just can't see it.

Flooding around our Home

Well if you've been watching the news you've probably heard about the flooding in Atlanta. It all started a week ago Sunday. It rained like it normally does here off and on through out the day, but the rain continued...Monday...Tuesday...Wednesday...and all through the week. The following Sunday night we got a crazy storm, the thunder and lightning were amazing...except that it was 4 in the morning, any way after that the rivers and streams had had enough, and things started to swell...and then Monday afternoon we got hit again, 12 inches of rain in an hour. That's when everything went under.

Our apartment complex has a nice golf course, this is what it looks like now, you can see a flag right in the middle. These pictures were taken on Tuesday, so a day after everything was at it's worst. You can see the mud line of where the water was the highest on the bushes and trees in the background.Another view of the golf course. This one taken from the road. Again you can see the mud line. Also notice the fence the water took out when it was at it's highest, it covered the fence, the road I'm standing on taking the picture, and all the houses behind me.This is a bridge in our complex that Kyler and I had gone walking across just a few days earlier This is the house across the street from us...again the day after so you can see the water line...so sad.
We are lucky enough to live on a hill in our complex so we have so far been unscathed. The 12 apartments next to us flooded last week, not to mention the homes at the bottom of the golf course like the one pictured above. We definitely weren't hit the worse, some neighborhoods are completely underwater. When I went to pick up Brian from work Monday night, I saw first hand the mayhem. Every street I tried was either under water or had trees and power lines down. It took me 2 hours to go less then three miles. We ended up eating dinner at the hospital with Brian to wait for things to calm down. I left the house at 20 to 5 to pick up Brian and didn't get home till almost 9. I feel blessed to have had no problems. Our heart gos out to those who have been affected. It's suppose to rain all this week again...I hope we have recovered enough to get through it.

Happy Birthday Kyler

Happy Birthday Kyler! I can't believe your two! Time has flown by so fast, and yet it seems like you've always been a part of our family. We love you!

We started the day off with the Birthday Tunnel. He loved it! We'll definitely make this a family tradition. Then we went to the local Chick Fa La and played in the play place. It's been raining here for three days now and it's not supposed to let up anytime soon, so it was nice to let him run around some place dry.

And Daddy even showed up! What a fun surprise, his meetings were amazingly canceled today so he got to join us for lunch, it was a wonderful treat.
Then we had a quiet afternoon, enjoyed breakfast for dinner (Kylers favorite) and webcamed with grandparents. After that we opened presents and had birthday brownies. Kyler was a pro.

It was a great day, I was sad for it to end. Happy Birthday bud, your the best!

Cheesecake

Recently our ward had a talent show. We aren't really the creative type (at least most of the time) and we didn't get our acts together enough to do any kind of preforming talent. So we decided to make some cheesecakes. We made our versions of a Smore's, Pumpkin, and Key Lime cheesecakes. They were a hit. We had a great time making them together as a family.

Lake Conasauga

For Labor day weekend we went to Lake Conasauga with Phillip and Jamie and their family. We had a great time. It was SO nice to get up in the mountains where the air is cooler, and boy was it cooler. It rained almost all day on Sunday, but I'd take rain camping over the hot city heat anyday. Phillip has a canoe, and borrowed another so we could all be in the lake together. We had a great time.

Kyler loved all the bugs the rain brought.
