Potty Training
What is the definition of being potty trained? I have learned that many people have different definitions for this term. And the book that says "potty train your child in one day" DEFINITELY has a different definition of potty trained then I do :)
If my child is potty trained they: Very rarely have accidents; know how to tell you when they need to go; and can go on outings without having to take an extra pair of under ware and pants :) This can not be taught in a day...in my opinion :)
Having that said I did learn a lot of fun things from the "potty train your child in a day" book. Kyler had a lot of fun teaching "baby" how to use the potty. And I think it did a good job of teaching him the basic concept.
We had a "beach" themed potty party and had a really fun day. We drew on the "board walk"(wrapping paper taped to the floor that made a path to the bathroom), fished for ping pong balls in the pool. Ran in and out of the streamers hanging from the bathroom door. Watched lots of potty videos and read lots of potty books. We also had a treasure hunt and made waves in a two liter bottle.
Fun things we did to make sitting on the potty lots of fun were: Silly string, stickers, tattoos, lotioned each others feet, face painted (with my eye liner), looked in a mirror, and took pictures.
It's taken Kyler about 2 weeks to be accident free. He didn't ever make it through the night so at the end of two weeks, when he was accident free during the day and at nap time, we decided to put him in pull ups. So far, it's been just fine. (and it decreased the amount of laundry I was doing by leaps and bounds) I can't say that having him potty trained is nicer then having him in diapers, but, I think the hardest part is over now, and hopefully it will just get easier. We played lots of peek a boo. I love this picture because it shows how he intertwines his fingers when he covers his face. LOVE IT!

Peachtree-Dekalb Airshow
We had a wonderful time at this local airshow a few weeks ago. It was BLASTED hot, and after about 2 hours I was starting to worry about Quinn, plus I was miserable, but then we found a nice shady spot with a breeze by a hanger and enjoyed the rest of the show. The view wasn't nearly as good as right by the runway...but hey, it was a good compromise.

Memorial Day
We spent a wonderful Memorial day weekend at Mistletoe State Park and didn't take a single picture! Isn't that terrible! I think it's a sign that camping with a two year old and a baby keeps us very very busy.
We had a great trip, we went with Phillip and Jamie's family, and a family from their ward, the Hills. Both of which own Kayaks. So between the three families we had 4 kayaks and 1 canoe, and boy did we have fun. Our biggest adventure was when Brian was in the canoe with Kyler and two of his cousins. They saw some swells coming so Brian was trying to turn the canoe into them, but with only novice paddlers to help they didn't make it in time and over they went! I was back at camp, but could hear Kyler crying from there. I figured he was just being cranky until they showed up completely soaked. Brian saw it coming so was able to grab Kyler and push him to the top once they were under water, Morgan (6) did good about getting herself to the top, but Savannah (3) was no where in sight. When Phillip (her father) didn't see her come up, he bailed his Kayak and started swimming to try and help. Thankfully all it took was lifting up the canoe to see cute little Savannah holding on for dear life to one of the benches.
Even though everyone was ok, neither Kyler nor Savannah wanted anything to do with the kayaks or the canoe for the rest of the trip.
All and all we had a great time playing in the water, hiding from the rain (yes, it always rains in GA when we go camping) and enjoying fun company.
